As a person grows older, they begin accumulating objects, belongings, and memories. These possessions do not define who they are, but rather tell their story. In this documentary project, I have photographed the treasured belongings, accompanied with environmental portraits , of Ms. Barbara McCall. To live alone at more than 80 years of age can be a terribly lonely experience, but Barbara has never let it dictate or control her life. Through these photographs I hope to portray this solitude and nostalgia for the past, but to also demonstrate the strength and faith this woman has maintained through trials and circumstances life has presented.

All photographs are shot on a Hasselblad 501C medium format camera, with Kodak Portra 400 film.
